What is my student is too young?

If your student does not meet the minimum age requirement of 14 years old by January 1st they are still welcome to apply and participate on our team! We accept students as young as 12 years old into our Apprenticeship Program. This program allows us to foster interest at a younger age and raise up students for the future. As an apprentice your student will be a full member of the team, but will not be allowed to operate heavy machinery such as the drill press, bandsaw, or sander for their safety.

If your child is under the age of 12 or looking for a smaller scale robotics, you may want to consider enrolling in one of the two other teams under Educational Robotics of Central Ohio: FIRST Tech Challenge Team 10084 Calamari (Ages 12-18) and FIRST Lego League Team Short Circuits.

Can I donate a resource or service?

Yes! We need your support! Since we are a community based team we do not receive any school funding and are supported entirely from our community! If you can offer donation of services or resources please let us know! Here are a list of common items we need each year:

  • Team t-shirts printed

  • Vinyl banner printed

  • Vinyl decals printed for our robot

  • Hand-outs with our team logo

  • Food donations for weekend lunches

  • Hardboard and plywood for prototyping

  • Composite and acrylic for construction

Do I have to commit right away?

No need to give us an answer right now! Just swing by and check us out! We're always open to visitors, and our weekly off-season meetings (May-December) are a great opportunity for you to stop in and give it a try without having to commit on the spot.
